Please be advised that on 21 June 2021, women at the AMC will return to the purpose-built WCC accommodation facility.
The relocations will impact the SCC, WCC and AU West areas, with other detainees also relocating as required. Area Managers will be communicating with those detainees who are required to relocate over the coming days. This will also be an opportunity for detainees to ask any questions they may have.
It is important to note the following:
- On 21 June, there will be a full centre lock-in to ensure safety whilst the moves are conducted.
- Detainees required to relocate will not be disadvantaged in employment positions and Detainee Employment/Services will be working with detainees to transfer positions as close as possible to their current role.
- Education, Programs and service providers will be advised, and we will be working to limit disruptions to these.
- Visit times will be impacted dependent on new accommodation areas, the AMC will also communicate the changes to your visitors to ensure there are minimal impacts on visit bookings.
Due to damage sustained to WCC during the hail event in early 2020, the future infrastructure program may require a short relocation in the medium to longer term to accommodate further repairs to the building. Detainees will be notified accordingly should a relocation need to occur.
